EquipTalkIQ

Construction · Drawing compare

Know what changed on every sheet before you price the reissue.

Upload a revision and each sheet is paired with its previous issue, by number and then by title. Lines and text are compared straight from the PDFs, the changes are listed per sheet, and AI only writes captions for the regions that changed.

What changes

Today

  • A reissued set lands and someone flips sheets side by side.
  • Clouds and revision blocks miss changes, or nobody reads them.
  • Quantities priced from the last set are not rechecked.

With EquipTalkIQ

  • Every sheet is paired with its last issue, renumbered sheets included.
  • Each change is listed as added, removed, changed or moved, with the text that differs.
  • Takeoff marks under a change are flagged for re-review.

How it works

4 steps, in the app as it ships.

  1. Upload the next issue

    Revision Compare · Upload revision

Add the reissued PDFs to the drawing set with a revision label and issue date. Each page becomes a sheet numbered from its title block; a scanned sheet’s title block is read by OCR on your device.

  2. Compare two revisions

    Rev → Rev · Compare

Pick the two revisions and press Compare. Sheets pair by number, then by title for renumbered sheets, and new and removed sheets are listed. The summary counts sheets changed, changes found and sheets added or removed.

  3. Review each sheet

Review · Overlay / Side by side / Wipe

Open a changed sheet in overlay, side by side or wipe view and step through its change list. Accept or dismiss each change, and leave a note for the team on what to re-price or who to ask.

  4. Caption and export

Describe with AI · Export summary

On request, AI writes a short caption for each changed region; the diff stays the record. Export the revision summary to Excel for the estimate or the team.

What you can check for yourself.

The diff is exact

Vector sheets are compared line by line and text by text from the PDFs, after aligning on labels both sheets share. The viewer says how many lines and text edits it found.

AI only captions

Captions are marked AI, sit under the change they describe, and are written only when you ask.

“Describe with AI” in the change list

Scans say they are scans

Scanned sheets are aligned and compared as pictures and labelled as scans. A scanned revision block shows its rows with the OCR confidence.

Every change has a state

Each change is open, accepted or dismissed, with who reviewed it, and the sheet list counts what is still open.

What it won’t do

  • Use a model to find the changes: the comparison is geometry and text.
  • Decide which changes matter to your price: people accept or dismiss each one.
  • Mark up or reissue the drawings.

Questions

Worth asking.

Is AI deciding what changed?

No. Vector sheets are compared exactly, lines and text, straight from the PDFs. AI only writes optional captions for the regions that changed.

What about renumbered sheets?

Sheets pair by number first, then by title. The pairing column says “renumbered” with the match score.

Does it work on scanned sets?

Yes. Scanned sheets are aligned and compared as pictures and labelled as scans. Their title blocks are read by OCR on your device to number and pair them.

How do the drawings get in?

Upload each issue as a revision of the drawing set. Sheets are numbered from their title blocks; if the text cannot number a page, you can let AI read that title block, one read per sheet.

Can the team see what was reviewed?

Yes. Each change is open, accepted or dismissed, with its note, and the revision summary exports to Excel.
